Our next deep-dive into the latest Gov.uk repossession figures see us reviewing the areas within Yorkshire and The Humber.

In this article, we’ll look back on the number of repossessed properties recorded for 2022 and how this compares to previous periods in order for us to locate some key hotspots for investors searching for repossessed properties for sale in 2023.

Yorkshire and The Humber recorded 378 repossessed properties across 2022 which makes up 13% of the overall UK figure. When compared to the same period as last year, we can see that there has been a 38% increase in repossessed properties.

However, versus the previous period (Q3 2022), Yorkshire and The Humber has seen a 26% decrease in numbers recorded.

The areas with the highest number of repossessed properties recorded for 2022 were Bradford (63), Wakefield (41), Leeds (40), Kirklees (40) and Sheffield (36). These areas alone make up 58% of all 2022 figures for Yorkshire and The Humber.

When comparing the data to the same period as last year, four areas within the region recorded an increase of 3 or more repossessed properties. These were Bradford (+7), North Lincolnshire (6), Kirklees (4) and Calderdale (3).

However, there were some key towns and cities within Yorkshire and The Humber which saw a decrease in numbers versus Q4 2021 which were York (-2), Leeds (1), Doncaster (1), and Barnsley (1).

Unlike other regions we’ve looked at, Yorkshire and The Humber are seeing multiple decreases from last years’ figures.

When looking at the figures versus the previous quarter, five areas recorded an increase in repossessed properties recorded which were North Lincolnshire (2), Bradford (2), Rotherham (1), Craven (1) and Richmondshire (1).

In contrast, there were 12 areas which recorded a decrease in numbers versus Q3 2022 with the largest coming from Leeds (-7) and Wakefield (7).

Where are the Repossession Hotspots in Yorkshire for 2023?

Although the number of repossessed properties has reduced in many areas for Yorkshire and The Humber, there are a couple of areas which Repossessedhousesforale.com would consider as hotspots. Bradford and Kirklees both recorded increases in a fairly saturated market so we would recommend investors keep a close eye on these when searching for repossessed houses for sale in 2023.
